UO students

More than a quarter of the freshmen entering the UO this fall brought high school GPAs of 3.80 or higher. We also welcomed our largest group of students through the Pathway Oregon program, which provides financial and academic support to all academically qualified, low-income Oregonians.

Ducks win the 2013 Alamo bowl

EMU architectural rendering

A $95 million expansion of the Erb Memorial Union is underway, with the new-and-improved student union set for completion in the summer of 2016.

UO professor James Brau

James Brau, Philip H. Knight Professor of Natural Science, with colleague physicists David Strom, Eric Torrence, and Stephanie Majewski, was part of the team contributing to the discovery of what is believed to be the Higgs boson. The UO's strength in experimental particle physics is internationally recognized.

Nine Flags ceremony honors tribal nations

Leaders of Oregon's tribal nations joined members of the university community in September to dedicate an installation of flags in the EMU amphitheater representing the nine tribes. The ceremony marked the culmination of a two-year, student-run project.

Andrew Lubash

A political science and economics double major, Andrew Lubash became the first UO student in 22 years to win a prestigious Truman Scholarship, which he'll use to attend graduate school and launch a career in public service.

MNCH Explore Oregon exhibit

Sabertooth salmon, a giant sloth, and tiny horses are among the displays in the Museum of Natural and Cultural History's fascinating new Explore Oregon exhibit hall, a major expansion of the museum's public space and its coverage of the region's natural history.

UO Board of Trustees

The new Board of Trustees of the University of Oregon assumed governance of the institution on July 1, 2014.

The UO's architecture program earned a first-in-the-nation ranking for sustainable design. Eight of the UO's professional programs are ranked among the top 20 in the nation, including programs in architecture, law, business, and education. Be a Duck

The UO celebrated its 100th Homecoming in October. Thousands of Ducks flocked home to campus for events including a breakfast honoring volunteers, the traditional parade and pep rally, class reunions, and a 45-20 win over Washington.

Petron, Bronet, and Coltranes

Campaign chair Dave Petrone, BS ’66, MBA ’68; Acting Provost Frances Bronet, Interim President Scott Coltrane, and Wendy Wheeler-Coltrane were joined by 750 volunteers, friends, and supporters on October 17 for the kick-off of the UO's $2 billion fundraising campaign, the largest in Oregon history.

Edward Cheserek

Sophomore Edward Cheserek won his second consecutive NCAA Men's Cross Country title, the only Duck since Steve Prefontaine to do so.

Beth Stormshak

Beth Stormshak directs the Prevention Science Institute in the College of Education, where the creation of a world-class program in health promotion, obesity prevention, and human development is underway as part of the UO’s “clusters of excellence” faculty hiring initiative.

Mariota

We couldn't be more proud of our Ducks' Pac-12 championship and Marcus Mariota's Heisman win. Next up, the Rose Bowl!
